DAISY Hill will be looking to build on their recent good form when they host promotion chasing AFC Blackpool at New Sirs tomorrow in the North West Counties League First Division North.

The Daisy squad suffered a frustrating day last Saturday, as they were just about to set off for the away trip to Ilkley Town when they received notice that the game was off due to a power cut in the area.

Manager Leighton Mills said everyone in the squad was disappointed that they did not have the chance to build on the two back-to-back wins they had recorded earlier in the week.

“It was really frustrating last Saturday as we wanted to play that game massively”, said Mills.

“We had won two on the bounce, we wanted to make it three, so we could go into the game against Blackpool on a good run.

“With the late notice, we weren’t able to arrange a training session in place of a game, and when you are winning games like we have, you want to keep playing.

“But that’s gone now, we trained twice this week and now it’s all about getting ready for facing Blackpool.

“We only played well for 45 minutes over there a few weeks ago, and it cost us, and we know we need to be producing good quality for 90 minutes to make it a bit easier for ourselves”.

One added bonus is that recent signing Bebeto Gomes will be in the squad for tomorrow’s game, and Mills believes the former Radcliffe man will play a key role for the remainder of the season.

“It’s a great signing for us and the football club, and he will be a great asset”, said Mills.

“He’s young, powerful and quick and can play anywhere in the front three. He’s dropping down three leagues to come to us after being a regular starter for Radcliffe.

“It’s not a loan move, he is here for the rest of the season, and his arrival will give us more strength in depth which is what you need in this league.”
