A MAN has died suddenly after a "possible gas leak" yesterday evening.
Police were called to the scene on Newlands Drive, Prestwich at around 8.20pm on Sunday evening where a man in his 70s was found dead.
The street was cordoned off as officers investigated, while firefighters were also in attendance.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "Police were called around 8.20pm on Sunday 12 December to a report of a sudden death and a possible gas leak on Newlands Drive, Prestwich.
"Emergency services attended and a man in his 70's was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
"Enquiries are ongoing."
The road remained taped off into Monday morning as officers continued to investigate.
