AN indie rock band is gearing up to release their debut single in time for the New Year.

After practicing and rehearsing hard to hone their musical skills for months, The Safe will be releasing ‘Insomnia’ on December 31 on Spotify, iTunes, Youtube and Soundcloud.

Made up of Jamie Stinton on lead vocals, Tom Jackson on drums and Corey Maurizi-McLean, they list Stereophonics, Arctic Monkeys, ACDC, Bon Jovi, and Guns ‘n’ Roses among their biggest influences.

Jamie says that the single is about love, heartbreak, and mental health, telling the story of a couple that break up from an outside perspective.

The single was recorded at Redwall Studios in Bury over six months, which proved an arduous process for the band

Jamie said: “My inspiration for starting this band just came from watching lots of live music and wanting some of that buzz for myself.

“As cliched as it might sound, it became my dream to start doing that, bringing people together and making them happy.

“So far, we’ve done around 10 to 15 gigs and the feeling you get when you’ve done one is immense and overwhelming - the buzz and adrenaline, especially after you’ve had a couple of drinks is unbeatable.

“When we’re recording in the studio, it’s also a great feeling to listen as it all comes together.

He added: “At the moment, we’re experiencing a lot of stress and nerves about the song, but we’re hoping people will like it because we’ve worked so hard on it.”

“No matter what you’re into, we hope you can find something to enjoy about our music because we have such an eclectic range of influences.

The band formed in early 2020 after Jamie posted on Facebook, asking for friends who wanted to join a band, after being inspired by seeing Stereophonics live on TV.

From December 31, ‘Insomnia’ will be available for streaming on all major music platforms.
