A pre inquest review took place this week into the sudden and unexpected death of a 14-month-old.

In January 2020, Corey Blake Grantham died at the Royal Bolton Hospital.

According to the Senior Coroner Timothy Brennand, the toddler was discovered 'in the bath'.

During the review, Mr Brennand read out a statement from the North West Ambulance Service who reviewed the case, which said: "The location of the ambulance crew was two minutes away, it was a very quick response.

"I would suggest it would be near impossible to get a quicker ambulance response."

Within the statement, it was mentioned that the the overall time from calling the ambulance, for the Advanced Paediatric Life Support to happen at the scene and then travelling to the hospital was a total of 25 minutes, which was quicker than the average overall time.

Mr Brennand ruled that a documentary inquest will be held on Thursday January 27 if the family do not decide to pursue a full hearing.

Mr Brennand said the family need to come together and decide if they want a full inquest hearing and the 'bereaved' are at the 'heart of the process'.

If they do decide to have a full inquest hearing, Mr Brennand said the court will require statements from both of Corey's parents Lana Hibbert and Caden Grantham, from the police, from the North West Ambulance Service paramedic and from the oncologist.
