SUPPORTERS of a borough foodbank initiative have thanked residents ahead of their annual general meeting.

Work has been ongoing throughout the coronavirus crisis, by volunteers at Porch Boxes, to deliver much-needed supplies to the disadvantaged.

A spokesman said: "As we see the country ending the restrictions imposed during the pandemic, Porch Boxes would like to say a very heartfelt 'thank-you' to the people of the Metropolitan Borough of Bury and surrounding areas, for the incredible way that you have supported 'Porch' during the last two years.

"The significant increase in financial and food donations have enabled us to widen our reach to those in need, at a time when 'Porch' was their only source of food,"

The AGM for the organisation is set to take place on Monday, April 4, at Bridge Community Church, from 7pm.

The spokesman added: "The generosity of the community of the wider Bury/Radcliffe area, has been amazing and very humbling.

"Thank-you so much to everyone who has in any way supported the work of 'Porch Boxes' both before, and during the pandemic, and indeed continue to do so as life returns to a sense of normality."

Some of those to lend a hand in recent times have included Bury finance firm Healthy Investsment and members of the congregation at Tottington Methodist Church.
