A SIX-year-old boy from Bury has decided he will walk 10 miles in two days in the Easter holidays to raise money for Ukraine.

Ben Kluj became inspired when he saw his grandad, Peter Kluj, a member of Bury Polish Club, collecting and sorting out donations that were being sent over.

Ben had been asking lots of questions about what they were doing and decided that he wanted to raise money off his own bat.

His dad Adam said: “Everything he has sorted he has done himself, there’s been no prompt from us.

“It was a bit of a shock that this is what he wants to do, and it sort of came from nowhere. He’s such a kind boy and he just loves to help.

“All his teachers at school say he is a little helper and he’ll always ask if there’s a job he can do.”

Ben is a pupil at St Michaels RC Primary in Whitefield and many of his teachers and classmates have sponsored him.

His mum, Katherine, grandma Jane and grandad Alf will be walking with him, and he will be walking along the coastal trail on the Whitby coast on the weekend of April 15 over Easter.

Adam added that the response on his JustGiving page has been amazing.

Ben originally set out to raise £100 but has so far raised a massive £640.

The money raised will be going to the Mail Force Ukraine Appeal.
