Bury telephone exchange, Union Square, 1965
When this photo was taken in February, 1965, this was arguably the most hi-tech building in the whole of Bury.
It is the new telephone exchange off Union Square which opened that month. Demand had led to the construction of the new exchange with so many homes having phones put in for the first time.
