STARS of Emmerdale and Coronation Street will play a football match at Radcliffe FC this Sunday in aid of a bereavement charity.

Actors Jay Kontzle and Joe-Warren Plant, who play Billy Fletcher and Jacob Gallagher, respectively, in Emmerdale, will be joined for the match by Coronation Street stars Ryan Russell (Michael Bailey) and Nathan Graham (James Bailey) at Radcliffe FC’s Neuven Stadium.

Former Sunderland player Neil Wainwright will also appear along with fellow professional footballer Jem Karacan.

Other players include Brigerton actor Simon Lennon, actor and former police officer Daniel Jillings, and Cel Spellman, who played Harry Fisher in school-based drama, Waterloo Road.

The match aims to raise money for Once Upon A Smile, a charity set up Danny Miller and Daniel Jillings to provide support for families dealing with bereavement.

Danny will take on the role of orange team captain, while comedian Lloyd Griffith will lead the blue team.

The charity was first set up in 2011 and this will be the first in a series of fixtures to raise money for emotional and practical support for bereaved families after the death of a parent, child or sibling.

The charity is based at Sidley House in Manchester which became the city’s first dedicated children’s bereavement centre in March 2019.

Proceeds from the match will also go to the JD Foundation who support disadvantaged young people affected by circumstance or illness.

A full price ticket for the match is £3, with under-16’s gaining entry for £1.

Children under two can attend for free.
