A Bury company has launched a massive vegetarian and vegan black pudding after a surge in demand.

The Bury Black Pudding Company is launching its whopping 1.36kg vegetarian and vegan black pudding product following an increase in interest from the food and hospitality industries.

They are the first UK manufacturer to release the product.

Since launching their 220g vegetarian and vegan black pudding back in 2017, the firm has seen year on year growth in their sales.

The company launched in Booths supermarkets in July 2020 and then into more than 300 ASDA stores in September 2021.

Now the black pudding will be available for all customers to order.

Bury is the home of the famous black pudding in the UK and The Bury Black Pudding Company offers the "very best" in traditional, quality black pudding using a gold medal winning recipe that dates back more than 100 years.

Managing director Debbie Pierce said: “We’re pleased to now announce the 1.36kg Vegetarian/Vegan black pudding is now available to order.

“Over the last 12 months, we have seen an increase in sales for the 220g product more than any previous year.

“Over the last six months, we have been asked by a number of food service providers, chefs and new product development teams when this would be available in a 1.36kg format.

“We’re happy we can now provide this to both new and existing customers.”

Matthew McDermid, from the firm's brand and marketing department, said: “We have been waiting for the right moment to launch the product and we feel now is the right time as we head into Summer.

“The vegan black pudding is less than three per cent fat and compliments any dish.

“Over the last 12 months, we have seen the supermarkets increase their plant-based/vegan options, wholesalers and butchers increasing their meat-free range and consumers looking more closely at the foods/dishes they are purchasing.

“To be the first manufacturer to offer the 1.36kg product to market is a great achievement.”
