THE  ‘future use’ of Bury’s diving boards is being considered after they failed to meet governing standards.

Bury Council have said they are considering the future use of the boards at Castle Leisure Centre, assessing their viability and the costs involved in restoring them.

Although the boards will continue to remain closed for 'safety reasons', the pools will be open for a range of classes; however, diving will not be one of these.

A council spokesperson has said: “The diving boards have been closed off for safety reasons while we consider their future use.

“The diving pool, main pool and teaching pool remain open for a range of aquatic activities such as swimming lessons and sessions, water polo lessons and swimming clubs and galas.

“The diving boards don’t meet present governing body standards, so we are currently assessing the viability of the work and costs necessary to bring the diving pool boards back into use.”
