One man has been taken to hospital after a 'serious collision' on the M62 this afternoon.
North West Ambulance Service confirmed its crew responded to a road traffic collision involving a motorbike earlier today.
A spokesperson for the ambulance service confirmed that one man had been taken to hospital after recieving at 999 call at 2.45pm.
At about 3pm today, National Highways alerted motorists that a 'serious incident' had occured on the M62 at J18, Simister Island.
A spokesperson for agency said: "#GreaterManchester. The #M62 eastbound entry slip road J18 is currently closed due to a serious incident involving a motorcycle.
"Emergency services are on scene."
The road was subsequently shut as emergency services responded to the incident.
This incident has now cleared, and the #M62 eastbound entry slip road at J18 (Simister Island) has now re-opened.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed the access slip road to the M62 Eastbound has been closed and advised drivers to avoid the area.
Traffic information service Intrix reported long delays along the road due to a multi-vehicle accident.
It reported the incident had caused congestion on the A56 through Whitefield and Prestwich and to the M60, J9 at Trafford Park with delays of around 30 minutes.
The road remained close until around 7.30pm.
At 7.27pm National Highways confirmed the incident had been cleared and the M62 eastbound entry slip road at J18 had been reopened with no significant delays.
Greater Manchester Police have been contacted for comment.
