An investigation is underway after flowers were stolen from a “precious” memorial to the victims of the Manchester Arena bombing of 2017 three times.

The flowers were taken from the Glade of Light memorial in Manchester on three separate occasions between May and June this year after having been left their to commemorate the victims of the terror attack.

Police have now released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to in connection to the thefts and have asked for anyone who recognises him to come forward.

Chief Inspector Adam Wignall, of GMP's City of Manchester district, says: “This memorial is really precious to the family and friends of the victims as well as people across Greater Manchester who were impacted by the attack.

“Whilst we are carrying out our own enquiries, I ask anyone who can help identify the male in the CCTV image to contact us or Crimestoppers immediately.”

Officers have appealed for anyone who may recognise the man or who may have any other information about the thefts to come forward.

Witnesses can contact police by calling 0161 856 1930 or emailing 12383@gmp.police.uk quoting 4 20/06/22.

Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously to independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
