A Whitefield Aldi store worker is celebrating her 20th "work anniversary" in serving customers and helping the community in her job.

Julie Tonge, a store assistant at the Higher Lane premises, first joined the supermarket giant back in 2002.

In that time, she had gone above and beyond her typical store duties, helping to train new members of the team and taking part in a range of fundraising activities for Aldi’s dedicated charity, Teenage Cancer Trust.

Speaking about her long service, Julie said: “Being part of the Aldi family for 20 years has been an absolute pleasure.

"I’ve learnt so much during my time here and it’s fantastic to see how much the stores have developed over the years.”

Regional managing director at Aldi UK, Ruth Doyle, added: “Without the hard work and dedication of our store colleagues, we wouldn’t be able to provide customers with the excellent and efficient service we’ve become known for.

“Colleagues like Julie are the cornerstone of our business and I thank them for their continued dedication throughout the last 20 years.”
