A borough food bank has praised kind-hearted residents for donating much-needed goods to people amid the cost of living crisis.

Brandlesholme Community Centre and Foodbank on Brandlesholme Road regularly appeals for people to donate items to the hub.

The food bank has reported more families have visited for support as bills continue to rise.

A spokesperson said: "To all our wonderful supporters out there....you have been amazing when we have posted requests for specific items that we are short of for the food bank.

"Our food parcels contain food that can be made into good, healthy meals, particularly for children. (e.g. eggs, cheese, chicken) so that our families can make filling meals such as pasta dishes."

The food bank has also asked if people can donate more pasta sauce.

The spokesperson added: "We get lots of pasta donated - but the photo shows our pasta sauce crate - much depleted!

"If you are thinking of donating to our food bank please can you include a couple of jars of pasta sauces. Much appreciated!!"
