The East Lancashire Railway is gearing up for a busy summer packed full of fun events for families to enjoy.

Here is a list of some of the events that are set to be popular:

Peppa Pig and Friends Fun Day

For the first time ever, the heritage railway is welcoming Peppa Pig and friends, and guests can complete an activity trail, enjoy rides at a fun fair and meet farmyard friends at a petting zoo which will be taking place at Bury Transport Museum.

Peppa, George, Mummy Pig and Daddy Pig will be hosting a meet and greet at the transport museum at different intervals and at the fun fair guests can get their face painted and expert balloon models.

The day out is complete with a ride through Irwell Valley on a real heritage steam or diesel train which is included in the ticket price.

Peppa Pig and Friends fun days will take place on Thursday August, 25 and Friday, August 26.

Families can book tickets online now to ensure they don’t miss out on this brand-new experience.

Day Out with Thomas

Everyone’s favourite little blue engine, Thomas the Tank Engine is returning to the railway after sell out events earlier in the year.

Guests can meet Sir Topham Hatt at the station and then climb aboard a carriage and ride behind Thomas through the countryside on a fun-filled journey to Ramsbottom station before returning to Bury.

At Bury Transport Museum the fun will continue with activities including sing-a-longs with Sodor’s cheeky station sweepers Rusty and Dusty, balloon modelling, face painting and fun fair rides.

A Day Out with Thomas will take place on Saturday, August 6 and Sunday, August 7 and will also be returning for later dates in October.

The Wizarding Adventure

This spellbinding adventure is an interactive day out perfect for all aspiring witches and wizards.

After selling out earlier on in the year, the day returns with a chance for magicians to gather and enjoy mastering their wand waving, improving their broomstick skills and defeating evil forces.

Alongside the wizard themed activities and photo opportunities, guests will head off on a two-hour train experience with the region’s best enchanters.

The next Wizarding Adventure of the year will take place on Sunday, July 31.

Bury Transport Museum

Just across the road from East Lancashire Railway’s Bury station, the industrial heritage of the Northwest is brought to life before your eyes at Bury Transport Museum.

The star attraction is located in the restored Castlecroft Goods Warehouse and will take you back through the 20th Century, recreating what life was like with hands-on exhibits and full-size vehicles.

A new hero exhibit has just arrived at the museum, for the first time ever visitors can see the iconic Union of South Africa locomotive up close and personal on static display.
