Police seized a vehicle early this morning due to the driver not having a full driving licence.

Greater Manchester Police stopped a driver this morning at 5.45am on Manchester Road in Bury.

The driver was reported and they had their vehicle seized after they were found to only have a provisional licence and were speeding.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police Special Constabulary said: "Speeding to work ain't going to get you anywhere when you only hold a provisional driving licence and our @GMPSpecials are still out on the hunt.

"Driver reported and vehicle seized."

This comes after other recent alleged cases of crime on the roads around Bury, including the use of cloned number plates, driving without insurance and driving without a licence.

Many of these have resulted in cars being seized by officers.

Police have appealed for anyone concerned about vehicle theft or about other cases of crime and anti-social behaviour on the roads to phone 101 or 999 in an emergency.

Witnesses can also contact independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
