A man was left with a bleed on the brain and a fractured skull after what was believed to have been an 'unprovoked attack'.

The serious assault happened in the town centre just before 3am on Sunday, June 5.

The road where the attack happened has not been reported.

Officers have discovered there were two victims involved in the incident including a man who suffered a bleed on the brain and a fractured skull.

The other person suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Enquiries have been ongoing since June, and following CCTV trawls of the area, police are appealing to members of the public for information that will help identify a man pictured in images that have been released.

"We do not tolerate this level of violence within our community and urge anyone who can assist us with our investigation to contact officers on number 0161 856 6393, or 101 and quote the log number 465 of June 5 or alternatively Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
