The council have warned residents that bin collections this week will take place earlier than usual due to hot weather.

Collections are due tomorrow, Thursday, August 11, and Friday, August 12 this week.

The council has asked residents to put their bins out the night before or no later than 6am on the morning their bins will be emptied.

The council issued the information on its website and have also informed residents signed up to its email alerts.

The warning comes as temperatures in Bury are set to reach highs of 29C on Thursday and highs of 28C on Friday.

The Met Office have issued a second amber weather warning for extreme heat starting from Thursday and ending on Sunday.

The warning for very hot weather covers parts of Greater Manchester, including Prestwich and Whitefield.
