Bury tram passengers have been left red in the face after the Metrolink line to Crumpsall has failed again due to hot weather.

There are currently no replacement buses but a list of services accepting tickets and passes has been issued.

Passengers faced the same problem yesterday, Thursday, as well as in the July heatwave, when similar overhead line faults happened.

Today, Friday, a Metrolink spokesperson said: “Due to an overhead line fault caused by high temperature, no trams will operate between Crumpsall and Bury.”

Despite the list of 15 buses, Metrolink have said: "Some of the services listed may not accept Metrolink tickets/passes, so you may have to purchase a separate bus ticket to be able to make your journey."

Passengers faced the same problem on the network yesterday, Thursday, as well as in the July heatwave, which caused a similar overhead line fault.

Twitter users have been quick to point out the disruption.

One said: "This has become a very bad joke.

"If customer service formed any part Metrolink's ethos, you would be bending over backwards offering apologies and compensatory tickets to users of the Bury line.

"Instead, I have to get on an overcrowded sauna of a bus and suck it up. Jokers!”

Another user added: "Get replacement buses on and stop making the excuse you can’t because it’s short notice!"

Metrolink has advised customers that tickets and passes are valid on bus services including numbers 53, 56, 59, 66, 90, 95, 97, 98, 112, 117, 118, 119, 135, 163 & 524.
