A Holocaust survivor  from Whitefield is being honoured in a fitting exhibition from the Imperial War Museum.

Ike Alterman, 94, a member of the ‘My Voice’ project, is being honoured in a new exhibition titled "Generations: Portraits of Holocaust Survivors”.

Ike along with 43 other survivors, has played an integral role in a Prestwich-based Social Care Charity, The Fed’s, My Voice project, which documented the lives of survivors before, during and after the war.

Six of the My Voice storytellers, Ike Alterman, Anne Super, Tomi Komoly, Ruth and Werner Lachs and Marianne Philipps, will now be honoured as The Fed partners with the Imperial War Museum North and Imperial War Museum London.

Raphi Bloom, The Fed’s fundraising, marketing and communications director said:“This is a most fitting tribute to the wonderful survivors who bring hope and encouragement to people of all backgrounds who now face the challenge of rebuilding their lives after similar trauma.

“The Fed’s work with Holocaust Survivors and Refugees gains greater attention by the day – the sense of urgency increasing by the hour.”

The fitting tribute is expected to open on Holocaust Memorial Day, January 27, 2023 featuring six of the 43 'My Voice' storytellers.

Raphi said: “My Voice is unique in chronicling the life stories of Survivors in their own voice, focusing on their whole lives - before, during and after the war years, when they settled in and around Manchester building successful, positive lives despite the horrors they had experienced.
