Prestwich Pride organiser, Teneille Busby, said: ‘“We are overjoyed to learn that we have been shortlisted for Grassroots Pride of the Year.

“We are sharing a platform with some inspirational organisations who do amazing things for their communities.

“To be in a category with all the nominees, including the likes of UK Black Pride and Trans Pride Brighton, after only one year is remarkable.

"We express immense gratitude to anyone who has helped get us to this point.”

The Grassroots organisers have been nominated by Gaydio listeners and members of the public in one of eight categories.

Each category aims to recognise and reward extraordinary efforts made to bring Pride to all corners of the UK.

Teneille said: “Thank you to the voters and the local community for making it a success, including the businesses who generously donated amazing prizes in our raffles and to all those who selflessly gave their time and talent.
