Fire fighters from three stations tackled a blaze at an industrial estate through the night.

The fire broke out at Bealey Industrial Estate off Dumers Lane, Radcliffe, at around 4.10am.

The fire did not occur at a unit from which Shepherd's Auctions operate, as was previously reported.

Engines from Whitefield, Bury, and Broughton responded, which included a crew with a platform to deal with the flames from an aerial position.

The firefighters brought blaze under control, leaving at around 7.30am.

Whitefield Fire Station watch manager Paul Ratcliffe said: “We had a building fire in a commercial property on the industrial estate off Dumers Lane.

“Three engines attended and a platform were in attendance which equated to 17 or 18 fire fighters.

“There was a quantity of building materials that caused damage to the gas main and some of the roof sustained damage.

“We’re led to believe that it was accidental – careless use of the building materials.”

No-one was injured in the incident and there were no police required.
