Police have arrested a man and are on the tail of another in after a spate of bike thefts in Prestwich.

Greater Manchester Police Bury South say that two people have been riding around the area in the last few days on the look out for bikes to steal.

A spokesperson for the forces says one of those involved has been arrested and they are making positive progress with tracking down the second.

The spokesperson said: “You may have seen a couple of clowns driving around Prestwich the past few days looking for another bike to steal.

“Well, those clowns met our tactical vehicle interceptor unit this afternoon after driving through a busy St Mary's Park.

“One male arrested, a second outstanding with very positive lines of enquiries.”
