Hob Lane County Primary, Edgworth, 1984
In January 1984 the village of Edgworth received the bad news that its oldest school - Hob Lane County Primary - would close at the end of the year after serving the village for 77 years.
Lancashire County Council announced the decision but the school’s governing body vowed to fight the closure notice but their efforts failed with the school shutting in 1985.
