An Oldham woman has been left hundreds of pounds out of pocket after she abused a ticket officer on a train where her ticket was said to be invalid.

Joleen Flynn of Broadway, Chadderton, was travelling on a train from Manchester Victoria to Chester on October 17 last year when she was asked to produce a train ticket near Newton-le-Willows, Merseyside.

When the ticket officer told the 43-year-old that her ticket was invalid, she became abusive.

She called the officer a "little jobsworth d*******" and told them to "f****** go away".

Flynn was asked to leave the train at the next stop due to the abuse, however she refused to do so, telling the officer that they could not kick her off the train and that she was disabled.

Her details were obtained and she was advised the incident would be reported.

Following the incident, a letter requesting an explanation was sent to Flynn, however she did not respond to the letter.

She then failed to respond to a further letter requesting an explanation.
