Carl Rushworth says a season at Swansea City has been perfect for his potential Albion future.

The on-loan goalkeeper scooped a double at the Championship club’s end-of-term awards as players' player and fans' player of the year.

He then revealed how life with the Swans has reminded him of his parent club ever since former Seagulls development coach Luke Williams took charge.

Williams is assisted by former Albion midfielder Ryan Harley while Martyn Margetson heads the goalkeeping department.

Rushworth said: “I have developed massively.

“I think the change from the beginning of the season to now has been night and day really, it’s completely different.

“There is so much I have learned.

“That’s one of the most exciting things I am going to take away from this loan, as well as working with the gaffer and with Marge every day.

“The lads have been great and it has just been such a positive experience for me, one that I am going to cherish.

“I have loved it. Since the new gaffer came in, it is so similar to how it is at Brighton and I am just feeding off that.”

Margetson also works with England, which has led to suggestions Rushworth, who has been part of the under-21s squad, could be a contender for the Three Lions’ senior group ahead of Euro 2024.

Rushworth said: “He is the England goalkeeping coach and working with him every single day. I want to get to that level and I hope I have made a positive impression on him

“The awards mean such a lot. To be recognised by your team-mates who see you grafting every day is really special, and then there’s also the one from the fans.”
