REGARDING the letter written by Mr Derbyshire in response to my own letter dated April 4, I would like to clarify his misunderstanding of my original complaint.

Firstly I did not say I had any problem with CCTV cameras to catch litter louts, I said that using anti terror legislation to catch litter louts is not on.

This is for what it states, anti terror. I am not one of the PC brigade but Mr Cynical. If you have done nothing wrong you have nothing to worry about is my motto.

Why use council tax money on picking up litter — get the litter louts to do it i.e. community service.

This problem has been going on all of my life (over 50 years) and probably longer, so to “nip it in the bud” is a false message.

Another point he is mistaken on is relating to fines. It is my understanding that fines are given which are relevant to income. The bigger the income the more you will get fined, and the opposite is true of lower income earners.

With regard to the chairman of the green party Alan Johnson, if what has been quoted on his behalf is correct then I agree with him. Finally to our councillors during these very difficult financial times, please do not be conned by Gordon “spend spend spend” Brown, this is the time to “cut our cloth accordingly”.

Remember, we council tax payers will be the ones to suffer. It’s difficult enough as it is.
