BERNARD Slingsby’s kind comments about my book, Freedom’s Path, in the letters page are particularly relevant to Bury Times’ readers, as the story is based mainly in the Bury area in the 17th century.
Members of certain local families mentioned in Freedom’s Path did flee to Pennsylvania, Bernard, but Henry Wood and his family left Brookhouse Farm, Tottington, to settle in New Jersey, where they founded the town of Woodbury.
Freedom’s Path is intended for anyone who enjoys a historical novelor who finds satisfaction in factual stories about the triumph of an underdog. It is also good for schools and local clubs.
