I HAVE a two-part question for the letter-readers of The Bolton News.
Firstly, what is the collective noun for a group of police officers? Is it a pride, a pack, a flock or maybe a “serge” — as in the material from their uniforms?
The second part — are the police officers of Bolton solar-powered? I ask this because, when it is miserable weather, raining or very cold, you rarely see a police officer, except flying past in a patrol car.
Then, when the sun comes out, we have “serges” of police officers doing vehicle checks outside Homebase or near Moses Gate Country Park. So, what is the collective noun for a group of police officers, and are they solar-powered?
