A 15-year-old boy was flown to hospital by air ambulance after he fell into a weir in a Bury park.
The teenager sustained a fractured leg in the fall at Burrs Country Park around 3.30pm yesterday.
Paramedics from Bury were first on the scene to tend to the injured youngster.
He was then carried to safety by paramedics from the Hazardous Access Rescue Team and firefighters before being transferred by helicopter to North Manchester General Hospital.
Jim Seymour, a paramedic supervisor based at Bury, said the rescue lasted around two hours.
“I had to go into the weir to help the boy as he was in danger of falling back into the water while my colleague gave him pain relief.
“Getting him from the weir was co-ordinated by the specialist Hazardous Access Rescue Team and the fire crew and that seemed to work very well.
“It is the first time we have worked with the team and it helped the rescue run very smoothly.”
