DISGRACED former MP David Chaytor — who was jailed for 18 months after pleading guilty to fiddling his Parliamentary expenses — is now earning just £10 a week in prison, it has been reported.

The 61-year-old is said to be working as a builder’s labourer in Spring Hill open jail in Buckinghamshire.

He was switched from Wandsworth jail in a move described as a “fast track”. Now, the former Bury North MP is reportedly helping to build a classroom for fellow prisoners. He was pictured in The Sun newspaper this week carrying out some labouring tasks.

Chaytor was jailed in January after pleading guilty to three counts of false accounting between November 2005 and January 2008. Last week, we reported he has launched a bid to challenge his jail sentence. Lord Chief Justice, Lord Judge, and two other judges will now hear an application at the Court of Appeal on March 22.
