I see that Sue Simmons of the Holcombe Hunt is predictably calling for a repeal of the Hunting Act.

It really is unbelievable that certain people get their enjoyment from chasing an animal to the point of exhaustion and then gleefully watching its agony as it is torn limb from limb by a pack of hounds. There should be no place for this sick activity in a civilised society.

I note that some Tory MPs, including agriculture minister, Jim Paice, are trying to promote a repeal of the Act. A recent poll shows that the vast majority of the public are still against legalising this barbaric activity and our elected MPs, including David Nuttall, would do well to remember this when it comes to a vote.

Instead of focusing on bringing back fox hunting, the Tories would be better employed sorting out the economy and cracking down on the greedy bankers and utility companies.
