ONE worker in Bury will win £2,000 each week in a new business draw being launched.

The Made in Bury Business Draw — Helping tomorrow’s businesses today — is a not-for-profit initiative with all proceeds being invested back into Bury.

This initiative is licensed by Bury Council and will help to retain and create jobs for in the area and give businesses access to coaching and mentoring through the Made in Bury Business Academy, as well as interest-free loans.

The first draw takes place on Wednesday, May 9, and every Wednesday after that.

The results will be published in the Bury Times each week.

Each ticket costs £2 and only 2,400 tickets will available each week to participating businesses and organisations and their employees.

The draw has been supported by Bury Council, police and firefighters, as well as more than 50 businesses from the private sector across the borough.

The draw has been launched by the Made in Bury Business Academy.

The academy was set up in 2016 by Debi and Phil Fellone, of Made in Bury.

Over 12 months, a cohort of 20 start-up businesses came together for a few hours a month in a relaxed but structured board room environment to help them develop.

In March, 2017, 16 of the 20 businesses graduated and 15 are successfully trading today.

Debi and Phil are are being approached by new start-up businesses looking to join the academy, and now plan to take it to another level, not only to help more start-up businesses through the academy but also help them financially via the interest-free loans available with the funds generated from the Made in Bury Business Draw.
