LAST week we took to the phone to surprise Mark Walker, restaurant manager at Slattery's Patisserie in Whitefield.

Slattery's are closed at the moment due to the Covid-19 pandemic so we tried to track down Mark on the phone.

We were initially unsuccessful and couldn't reach him, but Mark did call us back not long after our initial call.

Mark was over the moon at his win and told us that he'll be spending his winnings on a new pizza oven.

He has worked at Slattery's for 27 years, having started out as a confectioner at the age of 21 before working his way up to the dining room then gaining a promotion to restaurant manager. He told us he loves his job and the Slattery family are great to work for.

Slattery's are huge supporters of the Made in Bury Weekly £2,000 Draw and we've had several winners from the business. They understand the importance of the draw and the help it gives to local businesses in the borough through the Business Academy.

Who knows, maybe in the not too distant future, we'll be able to sample some of Mark's hand-made pizzas on the menu.
