A MUM-OF-TWO who has 'only ever wanted to perform' will star on a new BBC singing talent show.

Singer Jessica Cambray, who was born and bred in Radcliffe, has been chosen as one of 100 judges to feature in a new BBC One programme, All Together Now.

Jessica, aged 34, was approached by the BBC and specially cast for the role after producers spotted her YouTube channel.

The married mum-of-two, who now lives in Little Lever, said: "It's such an honour to be a part of this amazing new show. It’s given me the opportunity to grow as a performer and to meet exceptional people within the music industry.

"I'm delighted to be part of it. You never know what's round the corner."

On the programme, a range of talented performers, both soloists and groups, will sing their hearts out on stage, in front of an audience of 'The 100' - a panel of 100 judges, of which Jessica is one.

If the judges enjoy the performance, they will stand up and join the contestants.

The more of The 100 who sing along, the higher the contestant's score will be.

Secondary school friend Joanne Riu, aged 33, said: "Jessica has been singing since she was a child, always a diva and was always in all the school performances.

"Jessica is extremely talented in what she does and we are all very excited and happy for her success and proud to be her friend."

Jessica was born and raised in Stopes Road but moved to Stopes Road, in Little Lever, after getting married.

She has been with husband Martin Cambray for more than 11 years, and the couple have two children, Brogan, aged 10, and Fletcher, aged four.

She said "I couldn’t do any of this without the support of my friends and family so to them I truly thank them all."

Friends hailed Jessica for her hardworking nature, and recalled how she had started out on an ice cream van before working at Bury Market as a teenager.

Before entering the performing arts, Jessica attended Bury College where she studied geography, English and media.

Joanne, of Blenmar Close, Radcliffe, is one of four women who met Jessica at Radcliffe High School, and have become life-long friends.

The group joined Jessica at Salford's Media City when the show was filmed in November.

The six-part All Together Now series will be hosted by comedian Rob Beckett.

Airing on Saturday nights, it will also star former Spice Girl Geri Horner and award-winning vocalist Destiny Michelle.
