YOUR piece in the Bury Times of June 14 regarding Tre Ciccio in Ramsbottom, fails to mention that the building’s food legacy goes back to 1977.
Paul Rooke and his late wife, Helen, converted the building from a dwelling to a restaurant during 1977, opening as the Village Restaurant in October or November of that year.
Paul and Helen designed and constructed much of the changes themselves.
I remember calling in on several Saturdays to see how work was progressing to find them both with their sleeves rolled up getting stuck into the alterations.
I recall the business being under at least one other ownership before Chris and Ros opened as Ransoms.
