BURY Cycle Speedway’s Adam Turnbull was on top form at Coventry’s season finale – the Chris Allen Memorial.

In the under-16s match, the Comets’ Division Two captain rode unbeaten, scoring a terrific 20-point maximum to take top spot on the podium.

Turnbull went on to ride in the senior event, again in a full field of 16 riders, and narrowly missed out on a podium position, scoring a creditable 15 points and finishing fourth.

The season-ending fixture is held annually in memory of Chris Allen, who tragically passed away aged just 18 at Hearsall Common, Coventry, after completing a race meeting in 1973.

A spokesman for the club said: "Turnbull's results provided a fitting climax to what has been another excellent year for the teenage rider.

"He has been an ever present in both the first and second teams for Bury, and has been an inspiration to both old and young riders in the club, with his commitment and all-action style.

"Adam will now continue his winter training, focusing on an even more successful 2018."
