RADCLIFFE’S two cricket clubs are offering the town’s players a chance to get involved in the sport this season.

Both Radcliffe CC and ELPM are inviting new players to join them in winter training ahead of the new season.

The two clubs are at the same level in the Greater Manchester League but have been placed in different sections.

ELPM began winter nets last week and run every Saturday at Radcliffe Leisure Centre between 11.15am and 1.15pm, while Radcliffe’s pre-season training begins tonight at Bolton St Catherine’s Academy at 8pm.

ELPM, who will be in Division Two A after being promoted two divisions following their title triumph in Division Four West last season, are looking to consolidate this season, according to captain Paul Hewart.

“We won the league with 100-odd points last season and the chance to go up two divisions was an opportunity we couldn’t turn down,” he said.

“We’ve got pretty much the same squad with potentially one or two joining and if we can maintain our place in this section it will have been a good season.

“We’ve got three teams this season with a new third team going into the Sunday League so it’s looking good on the playing front.”

Anyone interested in playing for ELPM can just go along to Radcliffe Leisure Centre on Saturday at 11.15am and introduce themselves to the captain or the club secretary Mark Robinson.

Radcliffe also welcome players at St Catherine’s tonight.
