BURY have signed experienced striker Chris Dagnall.

The 32-year-old joins on a one-year deal following a free transfer from Crewe Alexandra.

During a career which has taken him from Tranmere Rovers to Gresty Road via four seasons at Rochdale, and spells at Scunthorpe United, Barnsley, Bradford, Coventry, Leyton Orient and Hibernian, he has played 523 games in all competitions, scoring 137 goals.

Shakers boss Ryan Lowe said: “I'm over the moon to sign Chris, I have known him for some time and have a great relationship with him. Ultimately, he's a goalscorer, who's tallied up almost 150 goals during his career and has played over 500 games, so he brings us that experience along with Jermaine Beckford who we've already got in the building.

“As a manager, I am looking forward to working with Chris. I've worked with him as a player, so I know what he's about, he gives 100 per cent whether that be in training or games. He sets his own targets, and his targets are goals, so we're hoping that he can bring plenty of them to us.”

Dagnall told the club: “I am very happy to have joined the club; once I met with Ryan last week, my mind was made up that I wanted to come to Bury. It's a fantastic club with fantastic facilities, and I'm really looking forward to starting pre-season next week.

"The club has great potential to bounce back from last season's disappointment, and I don't see why we can't; we have a fantastic chance to do well this season.”
