WILL Aimson rescued a point for Bury late in the day against 10-man Forest Green Rovers at Gigg Lane, netting the equaliser in a 1-1 draw.

Christian Doidge put Forest Green in front in the first half but, after the visitors had had Gavin Gunning sent off, Aimson pounced in stoppage time.

Just before the half-hour mark Doidge powered in a header from Carl Winchester's ball in, after Bury had failed to clear a set-piece.

The Shakers had chances to level, with Adam Thompson heading over before half time, and Dominic Telford forcing goalkeeper Robert Sanchez into a good save shortly after the restart.

On 76 minutes Gunning was dismissed for bringing down Gold Omotayo as he charged in on goal.

And Bury finally made the extra man count after the 90 minutes had expired, when Danny Mayor's shot was saved, and Aimson fired in the rebound.

And Ryan Lowe has called for patience after his players left the field to some jeers from the crowd, leaving the manager cutting a frustrated figure.

He said: “I’m hearing a few boos, and the fans are getting on our case a bit – not all of them, and we know there’s been frustration over the last few years – but times are changing.

“We need the fans behind us to be patient. We’ve taken the dug-outs down to be part of them, but do we put them back up again now? Because sometimes the abuse being shouted behind is not fair.

“I’ll stick with the fans – they have the right to voice their opinion – but they’ve got to stick with us and believe we are on the right track."
