RAMSBOTTOM United made it 10 games unbeaten under new manager Chris Willcock as they booked their place in the third qualifying round of the FA Trophy.

The game at the Harry Williams Riverside Stadium ended in a comfortable 5-1 victory over Yaxley.

Tricky left winger Nic Evangelinos scored his first hat-trick for Rammy as their superb form continued.

The Rams started the game at a high tempo as Evangelinos was fouled in the box and a penalty was awarded. Up stepped Nialle Rodney to make it 1-0.

Against the run of play the visitors equalised. Daniel Cotton’s cross was turned in to his own net by defender Luke Thompson.

Willcock got the response he wanted as Evangelinos got his first of the night on 36 minutes. His first attempt came off the bar before he was able to finish the rebound.

Rammy gave themselves a two-goal lead going in to the break as the hat-trick hero got his second when an angled drive found the back of the net.

The second half started in one sided fashion as the home side looked for more goals.

Thompson made amends for his first half mishap with a goal at the right end in the 61st minute.

Evangelinos completed his hat-trick in the 70th minute as he made it 5-1 to the hosts.

Nelson’s game at home to Avro in the Hallmark Security League First Division North was called off due to the weather.
