Bury FC have got goalscorers throughout the team, says Shakers captain Neil Danns

The Shakers climbed to fifth in the League One table after Tuesday night's 4-1 victory over Cheltenham, with Nicky Maynard's brace moving him to eight goals from 10 league starts.

But the Shakers are not just relying on their top scorer, with Jay O'Shea and Danny Mayor both in goal form im recent weeks while defenders Chris Stokes, Will Aimson and Eoghan O'Connell have all struck in the last three games.

"We’ve got a good set of lads and we all back each other, you’ve got to wait your turn," said Danns, who returned to the starting XI on Tuesday having captained Guyana for the first time on international duty.

"I think when you’ve got the ability in the squad we have, you can get goals from anywhere.

"It’s vital that promotion-winning sides have players all over that can score goals and we feel we have that in abundance."

Manager Ryan Lowe said he was not taking anything for granted having steered Bury into the top five.

And Danns, who turned 36 last Friday, insists the players are not paying too much attention to the league table just yet.

"We’re just focused on winning games," added the veteran midfielder.

"When it gets to the business end of the season, that’s when you look at the table."

Tuesday's performance was the fifth time Bury had scored four goals in a league game this season, and they are the highest scorers in League Two.

And Luton, who the Shakers host in the FA Cup second round on Sunday, have been in similar form since being promoted from League Two last term.

The Hatters are third in League One having scored 12 goals while winning their last three games, with only ex-Premier League clubs Portsmouth and Sunderland above them.

Luton are League One's joint-highest scorers along with Sunderland, with Elliott Lee their top scorer with 10 goals.

But like the Shakers, they too have been sharing the goals round, with James Collins and ex-Bury loanee Danny Hylton also in scoring form.
