THERE have been mixed fortunes for Bury-based teams in the new divisional placings for the 2019 Greater Manchester Cricket League.

While relegation has been confirmed for Greenmount from the Premier Division to Division 1B and Radcliffe, from Division 2B to Division Three West, there has been some good news for other Bury clubs.

Brooksbottom have retained their Division One status, Bury's second team have been promoted to Division 2A, Tottington St John's first team have, due to other clubs' unavailability for promotion, been promoted to Division 2B and East Lancs Paper Mill have retained their Division 2A status.

Also, Walshaw second team have been promoted from Division Four West to Division Three West.

Commenting on the promotion for Tottington St John's, club secretary Kieran Coe said: "At some stage we probably need to take a breath and consolidate, but these are unprecedented times for Tottington St John's.

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone – not just our hardworking and dedicated committee, but also our players, volunteers, friends and families, who all continue to play a massive role in our development.

"While we are growing at a pace, we will never lose sight of those characteristics that have historically personified St John's – namely: good fun, family-orientated, inclusive and welcoming.

"If any old or new cricketers fancy playing or helping out at the club, they can contact me on 07525 173154."

Meanwhile, Premier Division side Woodbank have announced new players Mark Dilnutt (from Denton St Lawrence) and Danny Hornby (ex-Tottington St John's) and also new professional, Josh Gale from the Lancashire League.
