BURY Blue Devils notched another win in the Manchester Area Basketball League with a 95-64 victory against Chorlton.

Six straight points by Nick Metcalfe gave Bury a 23-11 lead early on before youngster Alex Plumb hit four more to give them a healthy 27-16 advantage at the end of the first quarter.

Plumb and another youngster, Callum Brady, both hit three-pointers to start the second quarter and veteran Ste Graham was his usual athletic self, twisting and turning to find the basket, while Chris Stainton used his deft footwork to draw fouls and help Bury to a 52-27 half-time lead.

Bury made a defensive push in the third quarter, locking down and focusing more intently on forcing Chorlton into poor shots while capitalising on offence.

This was Plumb’s quarter, hitting fade-away jump shots but also showing his versatility in the post scoring 15 points to give Bury an 80-50 lead with a quarter remaining.

Brady found space to hit consecutive three-pointers as both teams stepped off the gas for the lowest points total in the final quarter, Bury scoring 15 and Chorlton 14 as the game ended with a good victory for Blue Devils.

Plumb top scored with 32 points for Bury.
