TWO Bury ABC boxers have progressed to the national finals weekend in the Amateur Boxing Association Youth and Cadet Championships.

Abdul Khan and Ali Akbar Javid, who both live in Bolton, will head to Banbury the weekend after next after winning their Greater Manchester regional finals at Tameside Elite boxing gym last weekend.

Khan fought in the 52-56kg section and won via split decision on points against Declan Smith, of Jimmy Egan's Boxing Academy.

Meanwhile, Javid, fighting at 60-64kg and also in the cadets section won by unanimous decision on points against Sale West ABC's Daniel Brown.

A third Bury boxer, Adil Iqbal, fought in the youth section and lost on a split decision in a very close bout against Joe McGuinness of Jimmy Egan's Boxing Academy at 56-60kg.
