JENNY Yates continued her fine form when she was first vet-50 in the Great North West Half Marathon in Blackpool.

She said she had "nothing left in the tank” after clocking a personal-best time of 1hr 38mins 50secs in windy conditions, finishing 132nd out of a field of 900.

Three other Radcliffe AC members also took part in the race along the seafront, with Dave Rushton running 1:44:34.

Amanda Darbyshire was pleased with her PB of 2:23:28 and Sarah Rushton ran 2:34:39.

Four other runners also competed over 13 miles last weekend.

In the Stockport Trail Half Marathon, Tracy Wroe and Bev Quinton ran 2:33:38 and 2:50:31 respectively, while Lucy Dewhurst and Sarah Oxley both finished in 2:49:08 when they travelled to Wales for the Village Bakery Wrexham Half Marathon.

They ran an extra mile before and after the race as part of marathon training.

Five members took part in the final fixture of the South East Lancashire Cross Country League.

Samuel Howard was sixth in the under-11s boys’ race at Yarrow Valley Park in Chorley, while Lachlan Burke was third in the u17s men’s race, taking third place overall in the four-race series.

Chris Whittaker ran 36:23 to finish 14th in the senior men’s race and Mark Wolfenden ran 52:59.

In the shorter senior women’s race, Karen Doherty clocked 42:26.

Despite not racing at Yarrow, Neal Emmerson was ninth in the senior men’s series – runners had to complete at least three races to be placed.

The club had 10 runners at the Central Lancashire 5k at Leverhulme Park in Bolton.

Robert Short was first home for Radcliffe and sixth overall in 18:17, while Chris Paxton ran a PB of 19:04 to finish 12th, despite having already run 10 miles before the race as part of his marathon training.
