STAND golfers Norman Haslam and Gary Greenhalgh have taken the Manchester and District Golf Alliance's Leo Feeney and Chris Tobin Trophy back to their club for the first time.

The pair were part of a full field at Hazel Grove playing for the trophy that was presented to the Alliance in memory of two former legends and is sponsored by Ian Martin, of Titleist.

And they posted 44 points to win the am-am section ahead of Paul Eddlestone (Stamford) and Neil Pragnall (Ashton-under-Lyne) on 42, and Paul Traynor and Richard Margrave (Stamford) on 40 points.

The top score of the day came from Jamie Howarth (Davenport) and Chris Alexander (Mellor and Townscliffe) in the pro-am section with 46 points – but as they are not from the same club they were not eligible to take the trophy.

They finished clear of Andy Palmer and Malcolm Bailey (Chorley), on 44, and Scott Howarth (Davenport) and Peter Botterman (Stockport) on 43.

The top individual pro prize was shared by Ben Chambers (Swinton Park) and Jamie Howarth with 40 points – one more than Palmer.
