JAY O'Shea has become the latest former Shaker to pursue his career Down Under, joining Tom Aldred at Brisbane Roar.

Defender Aldred moved to head coach Robbie Fowler's A-League side earlier this week and the club announced today that former Ireland under-23 international O'Shea will join him in the Queensland capital.

O'Shea, aged 30, joined Bury in summer 2017 and scored 20 goals in more than 80 appearances.

Fifteen of those goals came last season, when he helped the Shakers to win promotion to League One and earned a place in the PFA League Two Team of the Year.

“It was exciting when I got the call from Robbie Fowler, being a Premier League legend,” O’Shea told the Australian club's official website.

“I then spoke to a few of the Irish players who have played in the league, including [new teammate] Roy O’Donovan and they couldn’t rate it highly enough and said I would be crazy to not take the opportunity.

“It made the decision really easy – a lot of people I have spoken to really recommend the A-League. It’s a great competition and fantastic opportunity for myself.”
