RADCLIFFE AC’s Chris Whittaker knocked more than two minutes off his time from last year to finish a superb 22nd out of thousands of runners at a hot and humid York 10k.

He was among the 5,200 people who completed the course around the streets of the city in temperatures of around 22°C.

Whittaker, the club’s male captain, ran the popular road race, which started and finished near York Racecourse, in 35mins 37secs.

He was joined by Debi Warrington, who ran 1:09:18 after returning from illness and a hamstring injury, and having had little training for three months.

Whittaker said: “I’m happy with my time and performance – I left it all out there.

“I promised to return to York 10k as it was just too hot last year but it was the same again!”
