NEWLYWED Peter Hunter took on the Mykonos Run 10k while on his honeymoon in Greece.

The Radcliffe AC athlete, who tied the knot last month, finished 52nd in 56mins 52secs on the course which took in some of the historical sites of the picturesque Aegean island.

He said: “It was hot and hilly and had a strong headwind but the views were nice though.”

Rob Lister was also in overseas action at the Belfast City Half Marathon in Northern Ireland.

He joined thousands of runners in rainy conditions, finishing in 1:45:53. The day before, he finished ninth in 22:45 at the city’s 5k Stranmillis College parkrun.

Closer to home, Sarah Oxley said she was “beyond chuffed” at knocking 31 seconds off her personal best when she ran 56:50 at the Southport Seaside 10k.

Craig Ward was also among the hundreds of runners at the event along the seafront and promenade, clocking 53:49.

Junior Olivia Whittaker notched up her first sub-26 minute 5k with a fantastic 25:38 at Heaton parkrun, finishing first JW10, while Sarah Oxley was in action again, running 32:17 with her dog, Jackson.

Mark Williams was 28th at Bolton parkrun in 23:08. He was joined by Andy Wheeler who ran 31:32, while Michael Scott finished in 32:45 and Vice Ashton ran 33:13 as a volunteer pacer.

Debbie Cliff did not let a fractured metatarsal stop her from walking Nose Hill parkrun in Calgary, Canada in 44:20. It was her slowest parkrun time but she joked it was her fastest with a broken foot.

Radcliffe AC’s juniors were joined at their weekly training by the club’s England runners. Neal Emmerson, Sheila Jones and Jenny Yates wore their England Masters vests to take part in the session before posing for photos with the youngsters.

Yates said: “It was an enjoyable evening helping the juniors.

"There was lots of fun and games and it was inspiring at the same time.

“It was great to see them all enjoying themselves – I was out-jumped, out-run and out-thrown by all of them. The future is looking good.”
